Sustainability Practice
At Younique Early Learning Centre (ELC), sustainability is an important part of our curriculum and a value we share with your children. We believe teaching children to care for the environment from a young age helps them develop habits and values that last a lifetime.
Our educators use a variety of strategies to make sustainability fun and part of everyday learning. Children participate in recycling programs with bins for cardboard, plastic, and paper, and are encouraged to use reusable drink bottles and lunch containers to reduce waste.
We also compost food scraps to create fertiliser and run grow-your-own vegetable and herb gardens, using recycled water whenever possible. Through hands-on gardening, children learn to plant, care for, and harvest fresh produce.
Other activities include swap clothes programs to encourage sharing and reusing, discussions about sustainability to help children understand the importance of caring for the planet, and energy and water-saving practices in the classroom.
Children also take part in community clean-up days, learning teamwork while making a real difference in their local environment.
At Younique ELC, we are committed to giving children the tools, knowledge, and experiences to become responsible, environmentally-conscious citizens. Even small actions can make a big difference!
